Default Before I buy a '95 MPV...

Hi All,
Could you fine folks school me on what I should look for in this used vehicle? It has 150,000 KLM's and is really tidy. I've yet to get a look at the service records as I haven't meet the owner. I have however taken it around the dirt parking lot where it is advertised and while the 4X is engaged, a load ticking or klunking is heard when the steering wheel is turned at extremes. It's sort of like blown cv joints, but a lot louder and stronger than cv joints I am accustomed to hearing in smaller calrs like civic's etc. The exhaust pipe is a lot blacker than normal too, and I do feel moister when my hand is up against the pipe. It has been sitting for awhile though. Any help would be appreciated! Cheers, Stills

You should have a look under it and see. Take it to someone who knows cars or a shop somewhere. Probably 60 bucks to check it out for you before you buy it. The first thing i do is remove the oil filler cap and check for head gasket problems ( milky residue) I would not be surprised if it needed front axles at that age but i wouldnt completely condemn the van just for that since it is not a major repair.Condition of the engine and transmission are the biggest concern at that mileage/age.
