Default Worth it to drop a new engine?

Sup guys i just made a username on here and wanted to ask people who knew there stuff with mazda a ?...
well i bought a 99 millenia S(supercharged) with 110,000 miles in like mint condition for $3,900.. bluebook value was $6,000. well i didnt get it checked out and the car broke down 2 weeks later. mechanics said i pushed a rod through the oil pin... there goes my motor....
anyway just wondering is the millenia S mechanically good enough to trust putting a new engine in it? not brand new, but a used one i can buy with 55k miles for $1,000. after paying labor for someone putting it in, it would cost the same as if i payed bluebook value for it.
the car has been sitting in my driveway for the longest time now.
thanks.
