Transmission - No reverse
Hi folks and greetings from the UK. I am considering buying a defective Millenia (Xedos 9 over here). It's a 1998 supercharged 2.5V6 with 98,000 miles on it and apparently has 10 stamps in the service booklet. The bad news is according to the owner and I quote,
THE CAR WILL NOT ENGAGE IN REVERSE GEAR.
ALTHOUGH THE CAR DRIVES SOMETIMES WHEN YOU PULL TO A STOP,AND THEN GO TO DRIVE OFF IT DOES NOT ALWAYS ENGAGE.
THE WAY I HAVE BEEN GETTING ROUND THIS IS TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE,RESTART IT AND AWAY I GO AGAIN.
My best guess is that the powertrain control module is on the fritz. My remedy is to use my elderly 1994 Xedos 9 as a donor car to sort it out. Does anyone care to comment on this proposal? Thanks.
