I have a 96 Millenia, 2.3 L engine, never had major problems, runs great, everything works, etc. Now after 260,000 miles I had to replace the transmission and I'm thinking of changing the engine also. I found at a salvage yard a Miller engine in mint condition, only 70,000 miles on. My crazy question is...will it fit? Please advice. Thanks.

 

Miller engine IS the 2.3 L so I am a bit confused by your post. If you have the 2.5 L (normally aspirated) engine now then the swap is a bad idea. It's simply not worth the money. The Miller engine is way different and making it fit will take hours of labor dollars.

Why would it not fit or be a good idea? To exchange a 70k engine with a 260k engine during trans replace sounds like a very good idea as long as the 70k engine was not abused. Ignore DADINK as I think he has some kind of rotary engine fetish and do not know why he/she is even posting on this subject. There are very large differences between swapping a 2.5 with 2.3 but if you are doing a straight swap with a new mileage engine i would go for it. If you have taken this Millenia to 260k then you know how to take care of your car and would go ahead with the engine swap as well if you trust the retailer as to quaility of engine.

 

If indeed you have the 2.5 NA engine than instead of getting the 2.3 miller cycle I would get the 2.5 J-spec engine otherwise known as the KLZE. It is a direct replacement that all the accesories that are on the engine you already own will fit. You may want to get a ZE ecu for even better performance, but the KLDE ecu toy already have will work without and CELs.

Why do you people keep saying swapping a 2.3 to a 2.5??????????? He says he found another miller cycle engine. But I would definately go with the swap. I have 70k on mine and its been abused but nothing is wrong with it. Maintance is the key.
