My 2002 Mazda Millenia is at the trusted mechanic shop right now. He's trying to locate what is draining my brand new battery and has already checked the alternator, etc. I see a dashboard a/c system light on at all times the car's ignition is on: it is always either amber indicating recirculating air or the green light indicating fresh air is coming in. I can't remember from the past if BOTH of these lights can be extinguished at the same time by pressing the "OFF" button next to them, but I think I remember that is possible. Presently my pressing the "OFF" button to extinguish this light has no effect, the light remains on until the car is turned off entirely. So if you have a 2002 Millenia, would you please check to see if the "OFF" button on your dashboard a/c system DOES turn off both the amber light and the green light at the same time? And let me know so that I can report that to my mechanic?
