Door locks need an exorcism
When using either the keyless remote or using the unlock button on my 2000 Milly, both passenger side doors make this ungodly screach but don't unlock. Or at least most of the time they don't. I'm guessing it's some "module" or gear that's broken/need of replacement. I've seen somewhere on here before an illustrated diagram of door parts. Anyone run into this problem before? Anyone have a schematic of the door?
Many thanks!
Chris

At least you know all of the rest of the electronics for locks are working since they at least make noise when trying to work.[:@]
. The noise you are hearing is the gearing between the motor and linkage grinding together. There is not any serviceable parts available for the lock/latch assemblies as they are sold as a complete unit. You cannot get just the gear or motor or link anyway which sucks as replacement assemblies are not very cheap. Front latch/lock is OE #TB48-58-310 with retail of $187.15. Rear latch/lock is T002-72-310B with retail of $270.65. You can save a good $50 off the rear latch from www.onlinemazdaparts.com if you are looking to replace. Let know if you want to try and get the door panels off. I can get you some better diagrams of the clipand retaining screw locationsThey can be a little bit tricky on the Milly and you definitely do not want tobreak one as they are over 3 times the price of the front latch!!!

Thanks very much for the help! I just finished my rotation and so have the next 3 days off. Hopefully I'll get a chance to work on it. I'll let you know how it goes.
Again, thank you so much for the assistance.

I figured that I wasn't the only one having this problem. I have a 2000 Millenia and one by one, the door lock motors have been going bad. I had the dealership replace the first one to the tune of $600. Now there are 2 more going and there's no way I'm going to spend $1200 to get them fixed.
Now that I know where to get the parts, can either of you guys give me some insight as to how to install the new lock motors? Is it an easy fix or something better left to the professionals?
Thanks!

$600 is way too high for replacement of a single door lock assembly!!!!
Replacing the lock/latch assembly is not difficult at all santillo777. Once the door panel is off it is just a matter of disconnecting all of the linkages (4), unplug electrical connectors, and remove the three #3 phillips screws from rear edge of door that secure it to the sheet metal. The trickiest part is getting the door panels off without damage. If you are interested in trying to do the job yourself I could post you up some more detailed images of panel removal so nothing gets broken. Then all you will need is some time and patience.
