I recently purchased a 98 Millenia S from a dealership. The specs I've found on the internet and in the owners manual is that the car has an 18 gallon fuel tank. Driving the car to what the fuel gauge indicates the tank on "E", I fill the car's tank and I end up only putting in between 12 to 13 gallon. Any thoughts?

 

yup. i find that on both our cars, after the first click on the pump, i can get at least another 2 gallons in. it also depends on the angle you put the pump nozzle in. then there is the problem with the fuel gauge itself. i think the problem is in the sending unit in the tank, and while it can be fixed, you will have to drop the tank, and do some experimenting, which means dropping the tank several times. not worth it, to me. also, i read a post on the other forum about putting a resistor inline, but again, a lot of trial and error. another partial fix is to keep running it as far as you feel comfortable, and it seems to relearn, and the gauge in the dash will adjust a bit. after a while, you will learn about how far you can go. the most i have ever been able to get in is 16 gallons, and that sucker was showing really low.
