Seat Comfort
I purchased a 2008 MX5 last summer and have found out that after about a one hour drive the seats are unbearable. The passenger seat is no better as my wife has the same complaints as I do. I am not overly large but the seats seem to have been made for a 7 year old. I have owned and driven 6 English sports cars including a 68 Midget, a Boxster, a 57 Alfa, and a Saab Sonnet and have had no trouble with any. Does anyone have any suggestions for a remedy or any suggested seat changes. Thanks in advance for a Newbee, Ed
I don’t have a Miata yet. I have driven each generation but never more than a hour. I have not noticed or heard of problems with seat comfort.
I have heard of people removing the foam or replacing the seats for more headroom or a tighter fit.
Can you tell if your seats are stock and unmodified?
When I get my Miata, I will be replacing the seat brackets to get an extra 1 1/2 inches of headroom.

The seats are original leather seats. They seem very hard and dig into both my thighs and kidneys. They just seem a little too small, even though I am only 5'8". For an hours ride or so they are OK but on anything longer they hurt. My wife hates both the drivers seat and passenger seat for it's lack of comfort. I think that Mazda might have forgotten that more people use the MX5 as a touring car rather than a track car and put in seats that will handle 1g. I am 71 years old and have had sports cars for over 55 years and have never had this problem. When I test drove it wasn't for an extended period and had no clue to the nature of the seats. If I can't figure it out I will be back to and old English sports car even though it doesn't have some of the creature comforts or a 1'st generation Boxster.. Ed
