Mazda Miata (MX-5)This compact RWD model, offered with many engines options for those are who want to cruise with the top down in a base model, or hit the track in one of the high performance models, has been a popular model since its introduction.
What fluids and filters are you running for performance?
I recently bought a stock with 140k miles. Everything is in great shape. Not burning any oil. Really enjoying this fun machine!
I want to take it to the track and go a little fast, new to miata and track days. But regardless i would like to replace all of the fluids. What are your go to products and viscosities. I have done some research but wanted community input and experience.
This is not a daily driver. A weekend day tour in North GA mountains, sporty errands, and if top has to go up, it aint getting out of garage.
Also, looking for an QuikJack setup to borrow or visit in North Atlanta if any one has available. This is my first car that is so low to ground...
Fluids for a road track vehicle are no different than using the correct method of viscosity choice of oils. BY the operating temperatures of the environment. If you were DRAG RACING then my advise and recommendation would be different.
You are stating while you want to track it you also said still using it on the street.
If you are finding other, then this information on other social media forums and sources then they are not very well informed?
Best investment as a DIY you can make for tools is a set of QUICK JACKS and a set of Rhino Ramps.
If you Mazda is as low as you claim you may need to use a couple short pieces of a 4x6 to get up on the RHINO RAMPS? And any type of aftermarket front spoiler you will just need to be careful until you can adjust an added board to get on the ramps. Also, if you are one that is too low because of looks the QUICK JACK may not have the clearance to just run use them. But you need to look at the specification to figure that out yourself.
Sounds like a fun project you should post some pictures!
My quick Jack
My Mazda is actually slightly lowered.
