So I purchased a used 2008 PRHT MX-5. I have questions about the Powered Retractable Hard Top. So I can't go through a car wash? I can't go to a Power Washer type car wash? I need to only wash it by hand always? Also, here does the water drain? I'm reading everywhere to make sure drains are clear. I had a Protege' before this and this is my first convertible. I'm sorry for asking multiple questions in one thread but I'm confused about these issues and I don't want to screw anything up. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I do appreciate it.

 

I’m not sure about the car wash question, but you will definitely want to clean the drain tubes. There are numerous videos on YouTube that will show you where they are located. Most recommend a trombone cleaner to snake through them, but I had limited success with that method.



I ended up getting an adapter that hooked up to the end of my garden hose, and necked it down to a 1/4 ID fitting. Then grabbed a 3’ section of small hose to fit on the end. That basically power-washed the drain tubes, and cleaned out all the built up dirt and debris.
