Default Unexplained beep

I have a 2017 UK spec Mazda 2 GT and it has developed an annoying beep at 34 mph. It is a single beep and bears no relation to the displayed speed limit on the Active Driving Display. The Cruise Control is not set. The manual lists an item under "Warning/Indicator Lights and Warning Sounds" headed "Vehicle Speed Alarm" which describes exactly what is happening but only says that the beep indicates that the "previously set vehicle speed has been exceeded" but I cannot find how this can be set. It cannot be the Adjustable Speed Limiter as that gives a continuous sound until the speed is lowered. Anyone have any ideas?
