Default Will the CX9 be manufactured in the USA?

Has anyone heard anything about the 2022 CX9 being manufactured in the United States? I prefer the automobile that is made in Japan, primarily because of past experience and not a 'start up' type operation. If so, I may opt for the 2021 instead.

Maybe because of this article: https://money.cnn.com/2017/08/04/new...ump/index.html I heard rumors, otherwise I wouldn't have asked the question.

That 2017 article is way out of date. The SAR-CoV-2 coronavirus will still be with us in 2021. The effects of our self-imposed economic depression will be with us much longer than that. There is almost no market for cars now. Car carrier ships are being laid up or slow-steaming. Some arriving in port anchor for days before there is storage lot room to unload them. Wholesale used auto auctions have crowded storage lots and greatly depressed prices. Rental fleets have full storage lots. Too many sellers and not enough buyers, and the buyers won't be back in force for a few years. The last thing the industry needs is another assembly plant.

Can't get much further off topic. C'est la vie.

#1 - it is from 2017. No bearing on what is actually happening in 2020
#2 it didn't say anything about the CX-9 being built there. Just "crossovers".

I personally wouldn't classify the CX-5 or CX-9 as crossovers.

Wikipedia: The Mazda CX-9 is a mid-size crossover SUV manufactured since April 2006 by Mazda in Japan, at its Ujina #1 plant in Hiroshima Prefecture. ... Instead, the smaller Mazda CX-8 is sold in the Japanese market.

Default Japan vs. US built

I remember seeing a commercial probably 10-15 years ago where they had a Japanese car builder in a white lab coat working on the line and then it showed
the American worker in dirty jeans, ripped off sleeves flannel shirt and it said something like who would you rather but a car built by....this was before all this social media business.
I often think about that when talking about American cars comes up.

Hi MrBill.
I have heard that there will probably be no CX 9 after 2021 at least in Canada because Mazda plans to bring in a slightly smaller vehicle and one larger than the CX-9. Then again the various electric vehicles will share the plant in the USA with Toyota but CX-9 might be called CX-90 and the CX-8 produced in China may also arrive but Mazda did an about-turn many times such as with the Diesel Mazda 6 from Europe.
