My Mazda CX 9 is 2 months old . The hatch has been opening and closing according to procedures in the manual . The vehicle has been regularly parked in the garage with no problem . A couple nights ago when I entered the garage from the house the hatch door was open and stuck in the garage door . I thought initially that I accidentally caused the hatch to open with the key in my pocket . However , it happened again the next night and the key was not touched . Both incidents caused damage to the hatch door which is quite upsetting . In reviewing the hatch door operating procedures , unexpected openings should not occur . To me , this is a problem that needs to be addressed .

 

Is there something in the hatch that is obstructing it from closing fully? It might be something small in the latch, or anything that doesn't let it close fully. It'll them open, but it'll happen immediately.
