Default Rain sensor replacement

Has anyone tried to replace their Rain Sensor? I have a 2012 CX-9 and the auto rain sensor as stopped working completely. I need to find a breakout of the plastic cover on the windshield so I don't tear it up trying to remove it, and unfortunately, YouTube is no help! Anyone with ANY experience in this is appreciated!

Thanks!!!

This might help, though I think the info is from the 2016+ model years of the CX-5.

Haven't tried it, and don't have a 2012 vintage CX-9, myself; plus the info is for the CX-5, not the CX-9. So, caution is due. But it might give you an idea for how the attachment works, assuming the 2012 model's bracket is roughly similar to the one shown below for the CX-5.

So I went to the dealership and the tech told me to give it a punch with my fist right in the middle of the plastic housing and it should part enough that you can pry both sides off. He said "Don't try to knock it out! Work your way up in the intensity and you'll get it without breaking anything!" I haven't tried it yet, but will repost when I do!
