Metal to Metal Clunking Sound from Front Wheel Wells
There is a clunking metal to metal sound coming from the left wheel well mostly and a bit from the right wheel well, but not as much there.
Tire service shop (and all around mechanical shop as well, not where I got the struts replaced, never going back there, clueless), says it is most likely the "Strut Towers were not replaced, the rubber gets old and collapses, and wa la, metal to metal clunking sounds. I will post that separately.
Again Thanks in advance fellow Mazda CX-9 owners....
They are probably talking about the strut mount. It is a thrust bearing that carries the weight of the car on that corner while allowing the suspension to steer. It is located at the top of the strut up against the strut tower. If you have your paperwork from the strut replacement, you can see if they did it...or at least claimed they changed them and charged you for them. The thrust bearing is the circular part. This said, there are other parts than can give the clunk.
