Default Leave hatch open and still lock car

I travel with my dogs and have a device that can keep the hatch open to allow airflow. I want to be able to lock the rest of the car but can't seem to be able to with the trunk open.

OK, I had to look that one up. Is this device a VentLock brand or something similar? I'm guessing that it attaches to the hatch latch by pressing it in and simulating the hatch is closed. When you attach it to the latch, are you getting 2 clicks from the latch? If only one, the latch will think it's not properly closed. Is there a Door Ajar light on?

Never had a opportunity to lay hands on one so my thoughts may be way off base.

Yep, similar to a ventlock. I will check tomorrow about the number of clicks. Thank you
