Default I-ELOOP - DC to DC converter

Hy guys,

I've got a

It goes upto 3 bars when the error is there. When I reset it then all bars light up when coastong or braking.
Mazda CX-9 2017 and got "I-ELOOP SYSTEM MALFUNCTION" error few months ago. Mazda Service cleared the error two times but the error came back few days after that. So they advised me it most likely the car battery that needs to be replaces. So I bought a new Q85 EMF battery and replaced it and went through the i-eloop resetting instructions to reconfigure PCM. It went all good but then few days later the error came back. Reset it again and it recurred again and again. So took the car back to Mazda to check and this time they advised that's the DC to DC converter that needsnto be replaced and they quoted me hefty $3,500 to replace it. I looked up on google for the part and the prices are between $50 for 3rd party to $200 for OEM.
I wonder if anyone has had this issue in the past and can share their experience like how the issue was fixed and how much it did cost.

9/10 the capacitor fails and not the DC/DC convertor.

I bought a proper OBD2 interface and got the DTC code.

It's P1794:11 status code 8a
Complaining about dC-DC Converter circuit short to ground.

Any idea what it could be?

As my previous post, common failure from the capacitor.

If you follow the diagnostic flow chart in the factory service manual, it will lead you to the capacitor.

Could draining capacitor and recharging fix it or you reckon the capacitor should be replaced?

You would need to following the testing/diagnosis process in the workshop manual.

Also having troubles with i-eloop on a 2017 cx9. Has anybody successfully fixed theirs?

I have changed the capacitor with a 2nd hand unit but still not working. If i start car in the morning comes up with error. Let it idle for a minute or 2. Switch off and back on, no errors but istop not working. Has me baffled.

George

Edit: the capacitor seems to be working. I tried the old one again and that definitely doesn't work. Istop Won't go green when trying to reset the system. The new one does all the procedures up until you have to start the car and wait for the istop grčnlen to stop flashing but doesn't stop flashing. Anywhere else i should be looking?
