CX-9 Strange Trans Shifting When First Started
First know that I pull away from a stop like a grandpa driving a buggy. I do that for reasons of economy and to reduce wear on motor/trans parts. I live on a 10 mph lane and honor the speed limit. When the car is not at full operating temperature (i.e. when it's cold), as I start down the lane, the transmission zooms through first and second and frequently third gear, winding up in a much higher gear than desirable in a matter of seconds. After driving the car long enough for the engine to reach full operating temperature (190 - 200 degrees), the transmission operates perfectly. Shifts are imperceptible, they come at appropriate intervals and are very smooth, and downshifting is immediate and controlled. I took the vehicle to the transmission specialist who has done transmissions for three other cars, and who I trust very much, and they could not find a problem. There were no codes related to the transmission. There was a P2299 code, the fault for which is the brake and accelerator pedals being depressed simultaneously. That's it. I'd love to know if anyone else has experienced this and if anyone has any advice.
