2017 cx-9 Windshield Replacement

So when I got the vehicle I noticed that the vanity cover over the electronics behind the rear viewirror. I thought nothing of it and had the dealership put the cover back on properly. So as I use the vehicle on it's normal daily routine, I noticed that the rain sensor is not working so I go back to dealership and the did something to get it wwork. Within a day it stops working again. So now on the second dealership trip they tell me they cannot reattach the bracket to the windshield and the whole Windshield must be replaced!! I was shocked. I am a little scared though. I don't really trust anyone touching my vehicle even them. I am guessing the brackets are cured on to the windshield at the factory and this is the best way to go.
It is all under warranty.

Check with a different dealership. The service writers are not always the best informed. (When I got my 2016 I had to argue with the service writer about which oil was specified for this engine. He insisted that it needed 0W-20. I insisted that it needed 5W-30 as shown in the owner's manual and oil fill cap. I won. They lost my business.)
