Lightbulb 2014 CX-9 body work

Hello,

New here and looking for advice.

I have a 2014 Mazda CX-9 that I purchased 6 months back with damage to the rear passenger door and quarter panel. I did get a decent price for the car for that reason and that was very critical to the purchase. Now I am trying to see if I can get the damage fixed.

I have had quotes from $1700 - 8000 but I think the realistic ones are $1700 - 2700. In the meanwhile, I found a rear door in a junkyard with the same color code but no glass. The body shop says with glass transfer it will cost the same ($1700). Most of the cost seems to be towards repairing quarter panel that is clearly more damaged.

I looked up a couple of video and was wondering if I could replace the door (including glass transfer) myself and get the shop to fix the quarter panel. I am tools-competent, would rate on the lower range of handy.

What do you guys think, given the possible complexity??

If a shop gave you a quote of 1700.00 better jump on that. My friend is here at the coffee shop that owns a auto body repair shop and showing him your picture, he said 1700 would cover the materials paint ,sand paper etc, not the labor to paint or repair the body work which would be much more. That is a bad place to have damage to get repair.
He also advises a DIY not to exchange glass part in a door with those controls and how the glass must be calibrated and aligned.

Good luck!
