Default 2008 Cx9 immobilizer maybe?

Just put a new battery in (trying to spare all the details leading up to this) and connected the wrong side so it sparked and alarm went off. I'm not a car person AT ALL. Anyway went to get in the car and the key turns but car wont start. All the dash lights go on just no power to anywhere in the car but front lights/signals. No radio, no heat no ac no power locks or power seats. The car doesnt start like its not recognizing my key. It seems like it's in lock down. I'm trying to research what this could be but I feel like I don't even know the right questions to ask. I saw something about an immobilizer...that sounds like what it's doing. I have the same key I've been using since I bought it 8 months ago. I saw something on wikihow to get it to recognize key turn it to off position than on then off like 30 mins. This did not work. Any suggestions?
