2007 CX9 Strange shift shock behaviour

2007 CX9 Strange shift shock behaviour
Per the title, '07 CX9 is exhibiting shift shock like behaviour, but only when in 6th gear. Had the transfer case replaced last year.
When I drive normally, ie foot on the accelerator and maintaining constant speed or accelerating, i experience the shift shock feeling. however, when I throw the car into "manual mode", or cruise control, the problem goes away.
While in any other gear, the problem does not occur.
Anyone else experience something like this ?
