Default Stiff Steering Wheel

Hey guys, I'm about to buy the CX7 2007 of my father. He seems really in good shape. However, my girlfriend and I find the steering wheel more stiff than my Forester 2009. Its more noticable when you make a 90 degres turn. So, my question is: Is the CX7 steering wheel suppose to be stiff?

Thanks!

Hi Oliver

i had a similar issue when I purchased a second hand CX7 2010. The issue was significantly improved after I had a steering flush done along with the usual service at a Mazda dealer. It costed me an extra $200.

I was comparing the steering to my previous Honda Accord which was butter smooth ie I’d be able to turn the wheel with one finger. While not to the same level but the steering is much easier.

Also I noticed the steering wheel is thin and a steering cover made it easier to grip and turn one handed.

Cheers

The steering in Mazdas is stiffer than Subarus. I am frustrated with the weak steering when I drive my wife’s Forester.

The question is: is the steering in your specific Mazda stiffer than it should be.

I would have a trusted mechanic go over the whole car and let you know if there are any issues that will need to be addressed in the near future.
