Living in the Chicago area with snow and road crap, has anyone elseseen RUST forming on the edges of their exhaust tips? Noticed mine had some around the outer edge and a few spots further up the chrome. I was able to clean them up with 0000 steel wool.
I also own a 04 Murano and there tips have not shown any rust. This is telling me that these tips are not Stainless Steel but cheap chrome plated steel.
I have just over 8000 miles and owned it since Aug 06. Another problem which I will tell my dealer about is a rattle in the metal tracks of the sun roof. This is only on the pass. side.

 

No but mine is a California car.

Chrome tips rusting? If so I will just have my buddy weld on some new better chromed ones...

But so far 5,000 miles no rust.

 

Yep, I live in western Pennsylvania. I am having mine replaced by the dealer. I only have 5000 miles on mine and not very happy to see rust already. The dealer said they'd only replace them once since they ARE chrome and need to be cleaned and treated regularly[8D]I use Zaino on my Benz conv. so I'm gonna try that on the chrome tips........hopefully keep them rust free.

 

An update on these concerns. The dealer fixed the sun roof rattle,for about 2 weeks,now it's back and the rusty tips said I had to clean them more. So back it goes. Also they did do all the other concerns,the lower door seals and gas cap.

 

now they are telling me that the chrome tips are part of the muffler and they will not replace them. I can't believe they'd make them that way! The dealer is going to try to clean them, but I'm still disappointed. Not to mention the fact that I've had to bring it in 2, going on 3 times to fix the satellight radio.......they had to order me a whole new radio. waiting on the lower door seals and gas cap.
