Hi all I'm new to the forum. My neighbor has a 07 cx-7 and some how the timing belt tensioner failed and the belt jumped time and well you guessed it it ****ed up the engine. Now mazda looked at it and they said he needed a new engine. Here's the bad part they told him that the warranty wasn't gonna cover it because he did not have any proof of changing the oil at the proper intervals. So now he's screwed. Car don't run still making payments. So here's the question, how hard is it to find another engine? And where should he start looking? Just looking for a little help please.

If it jumped timing, you may only need a piston and a couple of valves replaced and the labor to do so. Have a Mazda independent shop give you a quote. Jumped timing caused the piston to strike the valve as they are out of time with each other.
