Hi guys, i have a bit of a problem. Every once in awhile ill start my cx7 and the rpm will bounce just under 2000 rpm's as like im revving the engine but im not even touching the gas pedal, whats even weirder is when do tap or push the gas pedal its dead. I can floor it and nothing happens just sits there and revss on its own i still feel pressure from the pedal but no power. The only way ive noticed to solve this problem is turn off ignition and disconnect battery- reconnect and everything is fine. Im just worried of maybe some long term damage or maybe something worse please help me.!

 

I think all these accelerator linkages nowadays are electronic -- Hall effect sensors. If so (and I'm new to this vehicle and don't know for sure), then it sounds like yours may be out. It should be a relatively inexpensive (?) accelerator pedal assembly. Or maybe it's a bad electrical connection to the assembly.
