Up-to-Date News, Specs, Pics and Jibber Jabber about the new CX50
Hey all, I'm hoping to get the ball rolling on news and discussion about the new CX50. What is everyone stoked on? What do we still want to know. I'm hoping to keep this thread updated with the latest news/gossip if possible.
Availability: Spring 2022
Price: unknown (Car and Driver estimates starting at $29,000)
Engine: 2.5L 4 cylinder. NA: 186hp, Turbo: 250hp. Hybrid on the horizon (Toyota drivetrain)
Drivetrain: 6 speed automatic, AWD
Location of Manufacture: Huntsville, AL: Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MDM) Plant
Specs I'd be interested in:
Ground Clearance/Approach Angle/Departure Angle)
Tow Rating
MPG
Possible Tow Packages (and effect on ground clearance/departure angle) Roof rack weight rating (can you get the pano roof and put a RTT on it?) The press release specifically says it's rated to hold a roof top tent.
Interior dimensions with the 2nd row folded down (can I sleep in it?)
Things I'd like to see from the aftermarket:
Modest lift kit
Ditch light mounts
Sliders
Front skid plate
Gobi Rack and Ladder
- all-terrain tires (225/60R18 Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail Tires), roof rack and hood graphic are optional
- The non-terrain tires are 20" tires on the higher end models: Goodyear Eagle Touring All-Season 2?5/45R20 99V
- a line of outdoor and camping accessories will be available once the vehicle arrives in showrooms in 2022 - Leather seating will be standard on the top grade, like the pre-production unit which Mazda says is GT-equivalent (Grand Touring), with cloth available on lower trims.

Not sure if well known, but this video is great at hearing from Mazda's Senior Director of Designer and Vehicle Dynamics Engineer in North America talk about the CX-50:
