Wondering if i can use rims from Mazda6
I have a 2014 CX5 and want to get a set of alloy rims for the winter. Came across a used set of rims from a 2015 Mazda6 that I think will work.
Mazda6 rims are 7.5 width vs 7 for cx5 and backspacing is 158 vs 152 otherwise all other specs are the same.
The stock tires on the mazda6 are 225/55/R17 vs the 225/65/R17 on my cx5.
Would I have any problems with the different width and backspacing?
Can I replace the current 225/55/17 with 225/65/17? Think so based on this (tire-equivalence-advice.html) but would like to be sure.
Thanks in advance

Anytime you move your offset in, you may rub the suspension or rub the brake calipers. You are moving the offset in by 6 mm and then the rim is another 0.5 inches wider which moves the rim another .25 inches closer. So 6 mm plus 0.25 inches closer into the car.
Based on wheelsize.com you may be ok but you need to test it first.
If the junkyard rim clears the brakes, then you could buy the remaining rims.
you need a few mm clearance between the rim and caliper to account for expansion, etc. preferably 4 mm to 8 mm.
Junkyard rims are fairly cost effective, they usually dont sell banged up rims and test them for true prior to selling and usually have a 30 day return policy.
I bought a bunch of mazda 16 inchers for $25 to $30 a piece and tested the fit but they had the same offset.
As far as tires, 225 55r17 will be a 7% difference in diameter from stock size which is too large a difference. Get the rims and replace/put 225 65r17 tires on it.

Thanks kilroy22!
The junkyard idea is great, never thought of that. Might save me a bunch of money too.
The 6mm difference is in the backspacing rather than the offset and I think it's because of the slightly wider wheel. Both offsets are 50. My understanding of all of this (I'm completely new at this) is that the rim would be 1/4 inch close to the brakes in total. Does that make sense?
Regarding going with the 225/65/17 tires that was my plan so it's great to get confirmation on that.
Thanks again!!

Looks like average prices on mazda 6 rims are between $50 and $130.
You should be able to get a good set of 4 cheap. Maybe some minor curb rash on one of the rims. Most salvage yards dont sell cracked/damaged rims anymore. At the point your paying $120 or more, you should also look at aftermarket rims on tirerack and discount tire.

Thanks again Kilroy22!
I checked an online site that covers a large number of the wreckers up here in Ontario, Canada. Cheapest price I came across is $150
We often pay a bunch more for stuff up here.
I appreciate the help
