Thanks for those links. I've been wondering when the 2015 CX-5 would arrive. I assumed it would be later in the year than January but happy it appears it that assumption was wrong.

After driving the CX-5 and the Mazda3 hatchback I feel the CX-5 fits our family needs better re: size but I absolutely loved the navigation/infotainment upgrades they put into the Mazda3. They put a lot of thought into it and I think it shows. I also liked the simpler shift gate set-up in the Mazda3. The heads-up display I could take or leave. We had basically decided to wait till they show up in the CX-5...now it looks like we won't have that long to wait!

What I like about Mazda's current update strategy is that it appears to be of the "running change" variety without regard to traditional model year changes. This is a great benefit to the consumer. What I don't like about it is they seem to have locked themselves in to being a full model year ahead of themselves rather than using a more logical naming strategy of 2014.5 or even 2014.1, 2014.2, etc. BTW athiker, someone on another forum posted a picture he shot the other day of a new CX-5 just landed at his dealer that had the revised Mazda3-type autoshift lever. So you wait is over on that issue!

I am going to use history as validation for this release date. The la car show is 11/20, I am sure they will will show the changes then and the release date, just as they did for the '14 with the 2.5 motor.
If this is true, then now is a bad time to buy a '14 if you want a '14 as they will be marked down in a month or so to make room for the '15.

Did the car get shown at the LA Motor Show? Any news at all? I ordered a brand new 2.2 AWD Diesel Sport Nav in Crystal White Pearl in December for delivery on 1st March which is the first date of registration for 2014 cars in the UK. My dealer has confirmed Im getting the new facelift model so I assume it begins delivery soon! Anyone got any info on what the facelifts are and what now comes as standard on UK models? Loads if speculation online....

The 2015 model begins production next week I have been informed. Also been told the safety pack will come as standard and that the passenger seat on top of the range models will be electronically adjustable and the drivers seat gets a memory function!

No news on infotainment system upgrade yet tho!

Do we think the 2014 model will see a price mark down once the 2015 is released?

The article linked in the OP states the following:

There will be no notable change under the hood of the CX-5 2015. Just like the current model, the car will be powered by two different engines: a 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine, and a 184 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque 4-cylinder 2.5 liters engine. The two engines will use a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission system.

Does this mean the 2.5 engine will be offered with a manual transmission? What about manual with AWD?

I'll be purchasing a new vehicle in the next year or two, and the CX-5 is on my short list. The biggest drawback is the 6 speed manual is only offered on the base 2WD model. I like what the higher trims have to offer, but I will NOT buy a vehicle with an automatic or CVT transmission.
