Default What should I expect to pay for an extended warranty?

Buying my lease, a 2015 CX5 with 42,000 miles.

Dealer originally offered an extended warranty for $2,200 but now is offering it as his cost of $1,600. It's a three year, 36,000 mile warranty that covers everything except brakes, wipers, tires and cosmetic. It's also a third party warranty from Portfolio.

Has anyone bought an extended warranty via the dealer? How much was the cost and what company?

Any suggestions were to look?

I'm not certain if I'll buy one, i know most people think they are a ripoff.

Mazda sells their own, good at any Mazda dealership. I picked one up for $1300, 6 year/100,000 miles, bumper to bumper. You might want to ask if they'll throw in a 7 year/100,000 mile power train warranty just for the hell of it since that's what Mazda offers on their certified preowned vehicles, you could ague that you are indeed buying a preowned. I'd stay away from 3rd party.

But my dealer is trying to sell me one that I quoted above. I called Mazda to see if I can buy direct and they said I need to work with dealer.

You could buy a Mazda warranty from any dealer, doesn't have to the one you bought your car from, although I don't think its likely you'll be able to negotiate a low price as well

Why not? Just shop the Mazda warranty from dealer to dealer!

Yep, good point, don't know why I didn't see that.

You should expect to pay about $1500. But shop around. Get quotes, go with the cheapest. That's a reliable car. You might be able to get by just fine without it and save the cost. You can do a lot of repairs with 1600.
