Default Trade in ridgeline for Cx-5?

Hello all. So here is my dilemma. I recently purchased a 2014 honda ridgeline and as much as I love this truck I'm getting no where near the EPA mpg, I mean I'm getting 10-11 in city driving and that's driving with an extremely light foot. I'm at the point where I cN pretty much make an even trade for the cx-5 and only loose a little on my initial purchase. I realize they are two different vehicles but the mazda was on my short list when I was looking so a few different platforms can fit my lifestyle. Just curious on some real world mpg figures since I do take road trips to snowboard/surf depending on the season. Thanks, Anthony.

Before you go trading in your Ridgeline I would be doing a big time investigation as to why you are only getting 10-11 mpg. There has to be something wrong. Modern cars have loads of electronics that can be analyzed to determine the operation and performance of the vehicle. Maybe a qualified mechanic can figure it out.

Now, with regard to the CX-5. I have a 2014 FWD GT and I average 27.4 mpg (30+ highway, lower city). My son who has a 2014 AWD GT gets 29 mpg, but he does a lot more highway miles than I do. I think this type of mpg can be expected. Maybe some others will chime in on their experience.

I get around 31-1/2 with my 2015 Touring FWD 2.5L gasoline. I've gotten as low as 29, and as high as 33.

Thanks AZjoeD. No codes on the truck, just think its a combination of the winter fuel and it not liking city driving. Thanks for also posting your mpg numbers. It's a tough call on my part, both vehicles are great!

At 21,000 miles we are averaging 26 MPG with the 2.5/ AWD, normal suburban driving.

Pickup trucks are geared differently too in the differential. That's low mileage regardless. If you have any warranty left I would take it to a Honda dealer. If not I would trade it away and move on. Everybody gets stuck with a bad vehicle at least once in their lives.

My 2016.5 CX-5 is averaging 27.2 mpg. Having said that, our 2005 V8 4WD Toyota Tundra gets 17 around town, I think your Ridgeline has a problem a trip to the dealer seems like something to try.
