Tire Pressure Monitor Question
Our '14 CX-5 gave us a warning a couple months ago, got the tire fixed (free @ Goodyear), reset the warning light, and all was well.
Also got a warning this week, Goodyear said the puncture was too close to the sidewall, so all 4 tires (made in 2013) were replaced, but the warning has come on again. The reset has been done again, but is this liable to be a problem needing a dealer visit?????
Edit: wife left with no warning light this morning and came back with it on again. Did another reset.

We have reset the monitor 3 or 4 times so started looking at our new tires, and they are 225/55R17 -- not the correct 225/65R17.
Goodyear says that's not the reason for needing all the resets, but they will put the right size on tomorrow. Will that solve the monitor problem?

Impressive that Goodyear is replacing the tires for free.
Have you checked the individual pressure in each tire? If so, how much are you loosing in the low tire?
The warning light comes on when there is a small difference between the pressure in the 4 tires. Mine comes on when there is roughly a 2 pound difference. I can barely tell the difference with the cheep gauge I use. When I add air in all tires to the same level, the warning light stays off for 6 months to a year. I typically have the issue when the temperature drops significantly in the fall.
If you are still loosing air after the tire replacement, the problem may be a bent rim.

Goodyear checked the tire pressures and said they were okay -- not losing air.
Impressive that Goodyear is going to replace the wrong size tires they installed with the correct size tire?? I wouldn't expect anything less. Goodyear's own specs shows the correct size and the tires they replaced were the correct size.

Have you checked the Maintenance section of the Settings? My 2014 GT gives me a tire pressure warning message when it gets about ten days before the reminder for checking tire pressure expires. It might be something as simple as that. If Goodyear reset the reminder message to 60 days when they first replaced the tires, the timing would be about right for that.
Maybe we don't have a "Type A instrument cluster." I am sitting in the car right now looking at the manual and no amount of button pushing is getting me anything but temperature, range, avg mpg, etc. as I arrow up and down.

The first time that we had that tire warning light come on was when when we had a nail in the tire at about 27k miles on our '14 Touring. After the hole was patched, we manually reset the warning light. This week the light came on again, and a piece of metals was found in the tire. New (4 wrong size) tires were installed, and the warning light comes on a few miles after every reset.

Maybe not, If you do, the Info button should bring up Settings which would contain the necessary timing setting. If not, then there is another problem, but it's always best to look for the simplest possibilities first. I had a similar issue when I bought ours and found that the check tire pressure maintenance setting was the issue. Once it was reset, there was no problem until the end of the period before the next suggested check.
IIRC, the 2014 does not have the TPMS modules in the tires, but determines the low pressure from an analysis of the rotation of each tire as the vehicle moves. A tire with lower pressure will spin faster triggering the warning. Thus, a difference in tire pressure or tire size within the mounted tires could cause it to appear. Setting the button that indicates you have checked the pressure should calibrate the module to use the current relationships among the tires as proper. I have been running Goodyear Endurance tires on our CX5 for a couple of years now with no problems once I figured out the GT's maintenance schedule quirk of indicating a low tire instead of just telling you to check the pressures. If you're sure the wheels and tires are set up properly, it seems like the problem is either in the rotation sensors or the computer that analyzes the data (I think it's the ECU, but I'm not sure that there isn't another module external to it). Good luck.

Goodyear didn’t make a fuss when I pointed out the wrong tire problem, although they did say the wrong (smaller) tires would work fine. Of course, the speedo would be off as the tires would be getting nearly 7% more revolutions per mile.
