Post SPACERS and SPRINGS.

We just purchased a 2021 Mazda CX 5 Carbon Turbo AWD over the weekend. CPO with only 10k miles! My wife is a die hard Mazda Fan, this being her 6th Mazda. I have been an Audi guy since trading in my Mazdaspeed 6 back in 2008.
Mazda has always proven to be a great car choice for us.

And me being a car guy let the modding begin!
First on the list is spacers for these stock black wheels. They are just way too tucked inside the wheel wells for us. I am looking for the outside edge of the tire to be FLUSH to the outside edge of the wheel wheel top/fender edge.
Once these are acquired , i am thinking about a 1.5" to 2" drop.(This of course is still up for debate).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Pics if you have any is always cool too.'

Thanks all!

Get hubcentric spacers no matter what you decide. You may also notice that if you do what you are thinking you could have problems under load hitting the inside of the edge of the wheel well. This is somewhat correctable only with going with a high-pressure gas shock like KYB Gas-adjust. However, they are not listed for most Mazda so you will need to do some work and find the shock using their specification guide. This also brings to recommending getting a higher load rear sway bar.

Agreed, always hub-centric. That's a given. I have yet to have any tire-wheel well rub on any of my Audis or my old Mazdaspeed 6. Max thickness on front would be 12mm rear 15mm. I like OEM Wheels because they are just more robust on crappy roads, hence the spacer application for aesthetic reasons.

Don't forget to alert your insurers when mods made; if you don't, and suffer an accident, their assessor may challenge any
claim made.
A lower ride, and spaced out tyres easy to spot.

My 2015 S3 was totaled by a red light runner. It had tons of Aftermarket Goodies. Springs, exhaust etc. I made them aware as I performed the mods. Got a very nice payment from my insurer.

Tons of mods ... that must have been one heavy HOT ROD? LOL So basically add ons nothing you actually engineered or likely installed yourself?
You do realize this is a forum primarily for MAZDA right? LOL

I would like to know what insurance paid you for your upgrades? Last time I had to itemize them document and list their value and than got an estimate based on value for replacement if the vehicle was damaged. under special vehicle/constructed insurance It amounted to about 1 dollar per per 1000 a month additional coast. And if any were sold by a manufacture that stated NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE, I could not claim them. 99% of the population in the world that mods thier vechles and are a registered for legal road use never get fully covered for the mods if any at all in the case of an accident or if the vehicle it totaled. For me I keep a n account that will pay for a Civil suit for anything in life that i am wronged and not paid for damages of property. I also run Dash Cams in all m,y registered and driven vehicles now as my whiteness to any accident.

It's very rare, in fact I've personally never found or been able to get, any insurance company to cover any "performance" upgrade on a street vehicle.
There are those that will cover my track vehicles (motorcycles), but it was a whole different type of insurance and much more expensive.

AAA and USAA will cover under special constructed vehicle and I believe they broker out the policy. I only cover my one car when I did exhibition tours and drove it to the events.
