Default Slow!!

Hi all, just pulled the trigger on a CX – 5. I really like it. It’s just super slow! I couldn’t really step on it during the test drive. I wasnt expecting a rocket, but jeez, it feels like a go cart at times.

Anything simple to do to make it go a little quicker?Apparently they did something to bog it down for epa. Could be just an internet rumor though. Please hold back sarcasm.

I switched to the CX-5 from a VW Tiguan which had more HP and torque and initially I had the same feeling. But now driving it for two weeks, it does not feel slow at all. You have to push the gas pedal more but it is very zippy in both city and highway driving. The only complaint I have so far are the uncomfortable seats. Very hard, I will open a separate thread on that issue.

Have you tried using sport mode, which holds gears longer and makes for more aggressive throttle response?

Agreed, the 2.5 is indeed very adequate for the CX-5.

Also agree, the 2.5L has good acceleration and once you get going on the highway, it's zippy! Also, the MPG is fantastic for city, I've been averaging 25 MPG back and forth to work and around town, which is a suburb of Houston. Couldn't be happier! Especially with 19" wheels, which can lower MPGs. Loving this Mazda!
