Default Showing Nav and Waze at the same time

I've read that you can get the Mazda Nav system as well as Waze (through AA or ACP) to both be on the screen at the same time. I've found the split-screen setting in Nav, but can't seem to get it to play anything on the other side of the screen but audio apps (Amazon Music, Audible, etc.). I played with it for ~15 minutes, but could not get the Waze map to display w/ the Nav map. Am I missing something? This is AA if it matters.

I don't think that is possible. You can have the Mazda nav and music from AA on the screen at the same time though.

It's not possible to have them showing at the same time, but you can have them running at the same time. It would be redudant but still possible lol.

The idea behind having them both running at the same time is using the Nav map, and getting any traffic updates from Waze.

Seems odd that the system cars what AA/ACP App is running on the right side. I would think it would have AA/ACP running on the right side, and you would be able to pick whatever AA/ACP app you wanted to run.

That is an AA issue. Nothing to do with the car's system.

While I'm not a tech person, I'm a bit surprised at that. My thoughts are that when you have Nav open, and split the screen, it allows AA/ACP to use a smaller section of the screen. Why would that impact what AA or ACP would display?

Here are a couple of websites that might help you (Android/Apple).
I would point out that your system needs to have the latest updates.
The above will not work on every vehicle brand/model.
My 2020 can run NAV and WAZE but it cannot display both on the screen at the same time.
How to use Android Auto's split-screen mode

AA/CP are really just a projection of your phone to the car so what is displayed is more controlled by the phone than the car. I believe car makers can make minor adjustments but the base logic of AA/CP is designed by Google/Apple. This is likely why some car makers are trying to get away from AA/CP.

I get that. As far as auto makers moving away from AA/ACP, I believe that ship has sailed. People have become way too entrenched in those platforms to stand for car manufacturers pulling support / connectivity for them. It also kind of defeats the need for a massive infotainment screen.
