Default Screen Annoyance

While traveling I can not activate any screen action ie Answering phone calls, reading messages, etc. Have to stop[ vehicle to be able to activate. Is there a solution to this?

Year and model would be helpful.
If you have Bluetooth your vehicle will have steering wheel controls to answer your phone.

You should never be reading messages or operating a phone when driving.
It is against the law in most US states to drive while texting or using anything but a hands-free phone.
If you need to read a text or handle your phone, then pull over and stop before you injure/kill yourself or someone else.

I personally use my dash cam and will film those who are distracted (using their phone) and all over the road and report them.

I appreciate the info regarding answer phone calls.

But the lecture about safety was really unnecessary.

Safety feature on MAZDA's; touch screen disabled when in motion.

Nice response. These are generally bad drivers as well.

Threads are not personal for just one member and read by hundreds of members and visitors.
Maybe it's not always directed at one member but a universal response for all to read.

However in many cases if the shoe fits.....

Maybe tell that to my friend that was killed by some woman that was paying attention to her phone rather than the road. Better yet, tell it to his friends and family

So how does that play with the new 2026 that only has a touch screen to control most everything? Does that mean you can't switch to defrost when you're driving, or turn the heat or AC on/off/up/down? Or, do they only enable certain functions when you're moving?

By your post, you clearly indicated you text while driving instead of pulling over which is dangerous and illegal in most US states and Canadian Provinces.
If you don't text and drive, why would you ask how you can do that?
Until my retirement I was on the Emergency Response Teams and the safety committees of every company/corporation I worked for.
I was a fully trained EMT and HAZMAT response team member and I have kept my training certificates current.
A safety lecture is very pertinent to yourself and others like you because you think it is unnecessary.
No safety lecture or training is ever unnecessary.

Thank you for being responsible and pointing out what that means.

Perhaps a 2026 MY owner could clarify what controls work on touch screen, when in motion.
