I have a 2017 CX-5 with AWD. Had a blow out and had to replace the passenger side rear tire. My tires are at 4/32 or better. With AWD, will replacing just one tire (on either front or rear) cause any excessive wear on the AWD system? Thanks for your input!

Tires and Tire Chains
The condition of the tires plays a large role
in the performance of the vehicle.
Moreover, to prevent adverse effects to the
drive assembly, please note the following:
Tires
 When replacing tires, always replace all
front and rear tires at the same time.
 All tires must be of the same size,
manufacture, brand and tread pattern.
Pay particular attention when equipping
snow or other types of winter tires.
 Do not mix tread-worn tires with normal
tires.
 Inspect tire inflation pressures at the
specified periods adjust to the specified
pressures.

This is a very debated subject around here. IMHO there are a number of factors that are important on this. The brand, and model /tread pattern of the tire should be the exactly same if your replacing just 1 tire. Overall circumference of the tire ,is number 1 IMHO all tires should be the same overall circumference. 2 conditions of the existing tires. 3 age of old tires. I am sure there will be other opinions on this, so let the fun begin. IMHO IF your tires are 2017 vintage ,there is nothing to even talk about and should all be replaced ASAP they are too old to be safe at highway speeds. Less than 6/32 tread depth is not considered good on street tires. And if they are the original Yokohama tires they are way past their prime and never that great even when new.

So if I understand you , the 3 remaining tires have almost 30000 mile on them ? If so I would replace all 4 ,as the remaining 3 at 4/32 are close to the end of their service life and will not be the same circumference size of the 1 new tire. The Pirelli Scorpion AS plus 3 is a pretty good choice. if you already bought just 1 tire , replace all 4 and use the 1 new tire you just bough as an emergency spare tire ,that you will likely never use.

I suggest that where you are choosing to buy your tires have them recommend what to do.

However if you were my customer and based on what was already posted I would be recommending to replace all 4. Tire are one of those parts you just need to keep in the best condition possible for the safety and best overall performance of your vehicle.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I've decided to replace all 3 remaining tires. They definable have use left, bur not worth the possibility of damaging the AWD system or transmission. Luckily, the one that blew out was under warranty, so only have to pay for 3 😁!

With the mileage you have on your tires I would also recommend replacing them all.
