In fact I removed the center seat belt, all rear head rests and have secured the other 2 rear passenger seat belts under the lower cushion rendering them not easily accessible and in essence call my MAZDA 3 a 2 seater.
I guess for me I came from a Honda Accord and my wife has a 2018 Honda Accord and both have great for rear seat room. The CX 5 is a great car probably the best in it's class for what I'm looking for. However, I just wanted to understand how manufactures arrive at the dimension numbers that they do. Where do they measure to and from to get a specific number of 39.6 inches of rear seat leg room.

[QUOTE=pcumby;190648LOL it is not a Where do they measure to and from to get a specific number of 39.6 inches of rear seat leg room.[/QUOTE]
This is the specification to post when the model is completed so someone can see it and maybe ask the question " Where do they measure to and from to get a specific number" on a forum like this.

Really dude I often ask as an engineer myself why did they go with thermal plastic instead of aluminum for that part which would have been a better choice of material and why did you they use a 53 mm throttle body intoed of 61 mm throttle body that would have been the CFM of the maximin engine flow??? and why did they use bla bla bla bla bla... it all how everything fit the guidelines of the end product and not really the best application to the known universe as we all share.

At this point I cant stay positive with trying to answer your question .... good luck finding the truth true meaning of life on earth!

Maybe you should look into an nice PT Cruiser 2005 GT then you will have more power then most all current and many past MAZDA's and so much leg room in the front and rear along with a great cargo area!
