Default Passenger footwell leak.

Our 2024 CX5 has developed a leak into the footwell. I thought at first that it would be from the heater rad but it smells like fresh water . It has been raining somewhat, but with our monsoon starting soon, we'd better get it fixed. We have poured water in to the wiper 'ditch' and made sure it only went into the drain hole. Most came out below the car, oddly in a few places, and a few drops into the footwell, via the cover for the lower part of the heater rad. I'm sure that this will be covered by the warranty, but is there any fix that we could easily do to save a day's trip downtown?

It may be the drain from the air con system. Being that new I'd be back to the dealer to get it checked out.

Or a dislodged sunroof drain. Definitely go to the dealer for a warranty repair.

Is that the same drain that also drains the bottom of the windscreen near the wipers? It drips into the footwell when we pour just around that hole.

No it's a drain just for the air con. Air con removes humidity from the air (and lots of it on a humid day) and there is a short rubber hose that drains water from the evapourator inside the car and exits somewhere around the middle of the car. It may not be fitted correctly to the evaporator.

We don't have a sunroof and it only appears to leak when we pour water into the small drain hole below the windshield.

The drain only works when the AC is used or the defrost setting is used. The small amount that would drain is not what the amount you state. Unless the defrost or AC was used for a long period of time say at least a couple hours and then it would depend on the ambient weather in your area.

I would think that a 2024 model would have climate control and if like me on all the time and the windows up. That pic you just posted is where I think the ploblem is. Either the hose has come off/never been fitted correctly or has a leak somewhere.

Even with climate control it depends on the ambient weather and specific what the humidity is.Unfortunately this member like so many gives very little information about where the live in the world so unless we knew that it’s harder to help them.

Let’s say as a hypothetical he lived in Florida the current temperature is mid to high 80f and 88% humidity. The AC system would likely be used so if that hose was off would pull about about cup every hour of the AC running . Or a cup of water collecting on the passenger floor .

And that's a lot of water. I just set 1 car to 25 and the other to 21 and leave them there pretty much all year except for extremes. Your right a little more info would help but my monies on that hose.
Question for the poster. Do you see water draining out under the car when the air's on and a humid day?
