Followed the instructions for pairing my LG Tracfone to the cx-5 hands free system , and now my phone beeps about every half-hour with a message about accepting connection from AT and T.

Apologies for my ignorance, but what do I still need to do finalize this pairing?

 

I had a Tracfone when I first got my '13 CX-5 and it didn't connect particularly well either. A few months ago I switched to an iPhone and Verizon and the whole thing functions like you would expect it to. I can't offer you any technical help or explanation for this, but my gut tells me that Mazda built their infotainment system around popular phones such as Apple and Samsung and the older stuff that Tracfone sells kind of falls between the cracks. All I know for sure is I'm glad I made the switch.

 

Thanks, Paris. If that is the case, it sure makes me wonder why the system recognized the Tracfone at all. Won't be switching to a monthly contract unit - not worth it.

 

Had a Samsung S390 Tracfone and didn't have that problem (though it wouldn't download call history). Now have ZTE Valet Android Tracfone and it works fine. FYI: Tracfone buys cell service from another vendor, in your case it looks like you are actually using AT&T.

 

Is the phone or the Mazda beeping? Where is the message about AT&T, phone or Mazda? When you paired did it download the address book and call history (Mazda display will ask you if you want to do each). What year is your CX-5?

 

I use my $15 Virgin Mobile Kyocera Kona...works quite well
