Here's one for everyone
is there such a device that plugs into the ODB11 port similar to the VW device that unlocks all the hidden features?
If there is such a device where can it be located?

TIA
Pat

you really need to give your Mazda information when asking service questions. And this is a service question.

Year.
Model trim
engine size
which fueling system N/A or Turbo
Transmission auto or manual.

Btw it’s not OBD11 (eleven) but OBDII (2)
There is no such thing as OBD11…

And answer your question, there are many retailers that offer EFI/ECU Calibration access software for a number of various platforms and generally very model specific.

You mentioned similar to VW, without knowing the brand I am not sure exactly how you are asking for a comparison??

These programs are not simple for a novice and my suggestion is don't touch it unless your prepared to accept the posible outcomes. And by the way there are no hidden features but a very complex amount of data the manufacturer has spent large sums of money developing.

Well for the most part you are in line with what I also recommend and also stress on MANY forum platforms. But Versa Tune has the generic tunes available that while very conservative any user will notice a slight difference in engine response and performance.

As for the second part to your comment I can pretty much as with others that will agree that have been properly school and passed and have received a certification in EFI/ECU Performance calibrating can take the base line ECU programming from the auto manufacture and calibrate changes to achieve more overall efficiency lower emission (if that was the target goal) get improved MPG (if that was the target goal) improve the engine power output (if that was the target goal)and that can achieve improvements over OEM ECU programing which ends up having a better performing engine.
Anyone that actually can first access all the PIDs and understand what they are looking at and then run various engine and load DATA logging can see this and know where and how to make some adjusting. So yes its id not a DIY friendly world and making bad adjustments in the ECU programing can have very negative results.
LOL I don't participate on forums that are primarily for "TOONERS" because of amateurs constantly making bad ECU calibrations or grabbing to many scales because they are lazy to grab one scale at a time and then wonder why the end results does not work out very well. LOL I did actually tech one forum on a single platform for a while but stopped because i would help members developed (free even though I had an ECU Calibration business specifically for this platform) a good ECU mapping and they would tweak it thinking they could do better and, in the end, caused issues and problems and wanted me to solve them?? Hmmmm oh and for FREE!! lol

Now back on topic....

I would state that Versa Tuner is a simple to use and does not need any DIY or buyer to understand beyond using their tune available for their application. It is a good price point for the basic offer, and I have not read of any user that was unhappy with those "CANNED" tunes of the customer service provided by Versa Tuner.

The big problem is people like to fiddle thinking they know more than the programmer. Packaged tunes are fine for a std engine or ones with specific modifications are few.

HI Guys
Thanks for the reply
I wasn't looking to do a remap or anything
It was more like the turning on of the folding mirrors if it has it in the menu

thanks for everyone taking the time to reply

Pat

That programing is not in the ECU.. so therefore, not accessible in the OBDII diagnostic connector. Now I see some of us got mixed up with your first post. You don't understand or know what the ECU primary use is? ....its ok made me smile...

As someone who has used CAN bus on three VWs over years to diagnose codes and invoke hidden features—e.g., closing any open windows and sun-roof when car is locked and rain is detected. I quickly realized that Mazda doesn’t offer this level of options, other than what’s available in Settings (which BTW includes the folding mirrors option.—and that is OK by me. Some VWs threw frequent error codes. Mazda so far, none.
