Default Newish CX-5

Having posted in "New Members," I thought I'd lay this here where I plan to spend most of my time:

Greetings. My wife, son, and I joined the CX-5 family in early December; seven months in, we can confirm we made the right decision in getting a Rhodium White Select, a vehicle that checked almost all our new-car purchase boxes at the time.

Living in a snow-belt, we wanted a second all-wheel drive car; we were ready to move to a higher-profile vehicle to join our current Subaru Legacy; and, most importantly, we were taken by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s updated side-impact testing that showed—at the time—only the Mazda meeting the highest rating for small SUVs. (Since then, several others have attained good ratings.)

The Subaru Outback met the test as well under a different category, and because we like our Legacy, we would have considered the Subaru. However, one other criterion came into play. Subarus, Hondas, and Kias were all selling well above MSRP in our area in December. We got the CX-5 for MSRP with extra rubber mats and cargo cover thrown in even though none were on the lot and we would have to wait for one in transit.

The Select, which I notice is not represented too well on this forum, has everything we want other than a heated steering wheel, and we were uninterested in leather seats. Significantly, we were able to pay cash for it as the car came in just on the line for our budget.

In the end we are stoked. We really enjoy driving the CX-5. Thanks.

Welcome! I just bought a base CX-5 (the trim level below yours) in Soul Red with no options a few weeks ago and it suits me fine. My wife has a Lincoln Nautilus that we bought in January and we have had only one car since then so I am glad to have my own car again (I traded in my 2009 Miata and sold her car). The only thing missing for me was a digital readout speedometer but I just got a cheap unit from Amazon and am trying to find the best place to install it.
