New to this forum. My wife recently purchased a 2019 CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve and was recently told by shop that our spare tire/wheel that came with the vehicle doesn't fit the hub lugs for our 19" factory wheels. Can anyone help explain this? I would go out to check vehicle myself but car is in shop at the moment. Pics of the vehicle for reference. CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve
I have never heard of such a thing. If Mazda sold you a vehicle that has a spare tire and you can't use the spare tire, they should recall the vehicle and give you a spare tire that works.
I suspect you talked to a person that has no clue what they are talking about. (I could also be the one that has no clue what I am talking about.)
I would email Mazda Customer Service or talk to a service manager at a dealership.
thanks for the feedback! I did contact the dealership service manager and he told me that the spare should fit the hub regardless of model trim level. Going to bring it to the dealership next week and will share my findings with the forum when I find out what is going on.
The spare is designed for the rear only. It will fit the lugs but not clear the front brakes. If you get a front flat you have to move the rear wheel forward and put the space-saving spare on the rear. This data is in your owner’s manual. Despite being a master certified auto tech I read mine and learned all kinds of fun stuff. Yes, the owner’s manual resembles a phone book (remember those?). But, there is a LOT of good data in there. Peace.
