Default New (to me) 2023 CX-5

Picked up a 2023 Carbon Edition CX-5 last night. It will replace our 2018 Q5 which has become a nightmare.

My daughter has a 2016 CX-5 and has had zero issues. I hope this one will be the same. Looking forward to learning from the forum.

Welcome to the forum. What were the issues with the Q5?

Engine mount failures at 65,000 miles followed by a turbocharger failure at 68,000. Replacement turbochargers are on backorder and no loaner vehicles available from the dealer.

I have an idea why this would happen but I wont post it.

Funny! Actually, I got the details, and it was not as I surmised the cause.

Default Welcome

Audi has always been one of the least reliable highest maintenance vehicles . Audi's 2.0 turbo engine is well known to be a nightmare. Your new Mazda CX5 is one of the best for reliability . As far as comfort and performance the Audi Q5 has a very slight edge ,but it is much more expensive and a good bit less reliable. IMHO German cars have become even less trouble free and less reliable in the last 10 years. Japanese vehicles have had and continue to have an excellent reputation ,and Mazda is one of the best and equal to Toyota and Honda . You got lucky to get rid of the Audi before you experienced the dreaded Q5 2.0 EA888 timing chain and tensioner failure .
