hello everyone,i'm new to the forum,i just got new 2017 cx5,not even 400km on it yet,its been really cold for last few days here in Montreal - 30 Celsius,i didn't have any issues so far with starting the engine ,but this morning the car clearly struggled a bit the battery is brand new as it came with the car,so im wondering if it could be an issue ,or simply the fact that the car is brand new and still tight,so it simply need breaking in,any opinion will be appreciate it.

 

Batteries don't need "breaking in"; they're either up to the task or not. Cold weather certainly is a factor here, but one occurance "does not a pattern make". If it starts to happen on a regular basis (and you'll have to be the one who determines that) in that kind of outside temperature, get it back to the dealer and have them check it out.

 

-30C = -22F

THAT is damned cold (-5F here at the moment). I'd be surprised if your CX-5 didn't struggle a bit to start at that temp!

 

Agreed, I would expect slow cranking at that temperature.

 

That's ok,I just feel the engine vibration even when the engine is warmed up,I'm not specialist but I thought that because the car is new,it has tight tolerances for now.

yeah it is cold,but even when the engine is warmed up i still feel the vibration in the cabin and steering wheal,just seems like something is not quite 100%,that's why i thought sins this is new car maybe its tight and needs more driving ?

 

I thought you said the battery turned the engine over slowly? What's this about a vibration?

 

Sorry,maybe I wasn't clear,I thought thataybe it was battery,but after few times,the car starts ok ,the only problem is,when I drive and stop on the stop light,there is in my opinion too much engine vibration,it is transmitted to starting wheel,and seems like the RPM changes when the can is on but not moving, sometimes it is 800rpm sometimes 500, just weird stuff,and it drives me nuts cause it is new car andy dealership only opens on Tuesday.

 

It almost sounds like you have problem with air mass flow sensor. I would take it back to the dealer.
