Default Missing key for locking lug-nuts

Have a new to me 2016 CX-5. Have looked everywhere for the Locking lug-nut key including removing everything from the underfloor of rear cargo compartment, the glove box, the centre console storage, and both front seat rear pouches. Is there some hidden compartment I should be looking in?

Can a replacement key be ordered from a Mazda dealer without having to order a new set of locking lug-nuts?

I have no advice on where your lugnut key may be hiding and I'm sure that your dealer could order a replacement key for you.

My advice would be to remove those locks ASAP and get the correct lugnuts to replace them. That's what I did. You can get a socket of the correct size and, using a hammer, pound that socket onto the lugnut lock and remove it that way. Thieves can, and do, the same thing if they really want your wheels, locks or not.

I still have two sets of these locks, and keys, that I removed from my most recent cars, my 2012 VW and my 2016.5 CX.

I would be shocked if the dealer stocked all the possible keys, this assumes it was an original Mazda set.

I bet you could find a complete unused set from someone who was forced to take them when they bought their car and never put them on. I may have a set or two in my basement or garage somewhere.

Usually marked in glove compartment door or by sun visor,
have also seen someone have it in the bag for towbar, if you have towbar
And yes you can ordre replacement at dealer

Says on the package to attach the key to the wheel wrench with a zip tie. Check there. I removed them from my new vehicle on day 1

Yup. Me to. Dealer includes them on all stock orders as extra profit. Total waste of money and time. Causes problems every time the tires are rotated and yet doesn't even slow the crack heads down.

I have a set I took off my cx 5 I would happily send to anyone willing to pay the postage. they cause more grief than their worth. I have seen more than one with a flat trying to get these off. either no key or the lug is damaged. I would never put a set on.

Thanks Zoom. First place I looked. Sadly, no luck.

All else fails. Small pipe wrench, vice grips or a rounded nut socket and take them off and put regular lug back on. Torque should be 100-110 lb.

What's funny is all the members that know how to steel wheels. LOL

The other things is NO its not as easy it some think to remove some wheel locks. LOL
Gotta love the internet videos...... try some of the techniques in real life using the average socket see what happens. LOL

And the smarter people will get a lock set that ALL the lugs require a master socket to remove them. Most thieves will not really want to tackle that. LOL

Bucko I feel for you.
Next time secure the master lock ,tool, key in a place that it always gets returned when you are finished. Make sure you have at least 2 keep one at home with your jewelry or the cash in the freezer.. LOL
