Mazda Maintenance Package
I was really excited that I wouldn't have to bring in my 2019 Mazda 3 until every 10,000 miles-ish for an oil change. I brought it in recently, and the service center, at first, tried to upsell me to a $499 maintenance package which included replacing the oil and filter, rotating tires, a "protex protection kit oil and top tier fuel additive," a throttle body service, fuel injector service, and wipers. I said "no thanks, I have only 20k on my car so far!" However, I (now think, foolishly) settled on a "20k mile service" which included an oil and oil filter change, tire rotation, cabin air filter and engine air filter replacement. It came to $250, which is a lot more than I'm used to spending for maintenance at only 20k. In fact, even the simple "5k mile" service (oil change and filter, tire rotation) came to $119.95! Is Mazda now charging a lot more (or pushing upsells) for each service because the cars have to come in less frequently? Thanks for your thoughts!
Got a similar quote in the 1000's, when I said it is too much they gave me the 75K miles/5 Year Mazda Maintenance Package for $750. Seems to make sense, since it includes 10 service visits which means it is $75/visit and includes everything needed for the first 5 years. The disadvantage is you pay upfront, the advantage is that there will be no service fee increase for the next 5 years since the price is locked in.
