Default Mazda CX5 2.2Lt Diesel - How reliable

Thinking of upgrading my present 2012 Mazda 3 Hatch to 2015 on CX 5. Options 2.0 Lt petrol, 2.5 Lt AWD petrol , 2.2 Lt AWD turbo diesel. The latter is attractive re: power output & economy. Just questioning reliability & longevity of motor? Any feedback from diesel owners would be greatly appreciated.

Run away from the diesel, they have bad reliability.

2.0 feels underpowered.

I'm happy with my 2.5

I tend to only hear bad things. Anytime I see something diesel related on these forums, it's always bad and never good.

Thanks everyone for your input, I will probably go for the 2.5 Lt AWD. As I will not be doing a lot of km's economy is not really an issue as is resale as I will be buying used vehicle & intend to keep it for some time.

Thanks for confirmation of my choice, this is why I like the various forums- real life feedback rather than salespersons spin

Welcome to the forum

Normally I don't respond in threads having to do with Diesels, and the fact I have been L2 certified for about 30 years and current, I don't work on them professionally or privately and would not own one. But that is only personal opinion.
They have their own set of issues no matter what the make and models are.
So, if asked I say gas model Mazda is a better consideration.
