Stick to your day job because posting less then accurate information is getting old
But I am sure you will have a snappy come back and I will be ready to respond to it. LOL
When I bought my CX5, it only had one key fob. I told them that I wanted two. The salesman asked if that was a deal breaker and I said yes. I got a second fob thrown into the deal.

Sure if you ask most will? If the wording is accurate from your salesperson he should have expected your response was going to be yes.

Having been a CA licensed buyer when I worked at a dealership yeeeears ago going to the dealer auctions it was very common to bid and win on vehicles having only one key. While I could not say the percentage of used vehicles only have one key I can only say like you if you are buying a vehcle it is your responsibility to at least ask about a second key.

Before the keys changed in the toward the end of about 1980's many dealerships and used car lots had a KEY maker in the parts department often left on consignment or a dealer of the key cutting machine that made their money selling blanks and servicing the machines. I had one in 2 of my retail parts stores and the usual key fob display. LOL

There you go. It really depends on the buyer and seller. Every car (new or used) should come with 2 fobs.

This much is absolutely true!

But here is the thing have you personally ever as a salesman capacity at a dealership sold used vehicles or legally purchased them at a dealer auction?

In the United States, there are no federal laws requiring used vehicles to come with two sets of keys when purchased from a dealership.

Now I do understand because this came up on another forum that some stated lemon laws have their own restriction that may include when buying a used vehcle from a dealer that they must include 2 sets of keys but it's never been enforced or used that I am aware of because the FEDERAL LAWS override a states, Lemon Law.

To save a long drawn out debate:
I looked for your state btw:
No mention of keys?
As a general rule, OLDER MODEL USED CARS(models older than model year 2016) and other vehicles, whether purchased or leased in Georgia, ARE NOT covered by the Georgia Lemon Law. The law is also known as the Georgia Motor Vehicle Warranty Rights Act

My wife was a banker for 30+ years and knows all about money transactions.
We've done that with two vehicles Ford Ranger/Honda CRV.
I also got a new OEM trailer hitch installed on the CX-5 after the settled price was already negotiated.
We are always prepared to walk away if my wife or I don't get the deal we want on a vehicle or just about anything for that matter.

Well stated and I have the same rule.

These days cash does not hold the power it use to. Not just to long ago when you waved a hand full of bills in front of the salesperson they would talk, negotiate, but these days NOPE they go back to eating their sandwich and state NO HASLE SALES that the price no matter how you pay??

I must have hit the lottery because I got my car certified pre-owned (CPO) and it came with 3 key fobs . The dealer cracked a joke with me saying they're over $400 to buy and have programmed...

I don't think that is true in the current situation. During COVID dealerships got really greedy with "chip shortages" and the like. They have tried really hard to hold onto this profit center but I am seeing CX-90 discounted $4500 locally. It's getting more favorable for the consumer again.

I should have been more clear sorry I should have said USED VEHICKLES
I can not see myself in the near future and have thought this since my Mazda purchase 2018 that unless something really caught my attention there is no vehcle anywhere offered by any auto manufacture now or in the near future that would have me interested in buying new or even unlikely used.
IMHO the point of quality and about every other aspect has peaked a few years ago and is now a slow decline This thought will not be supported for another 5-7 years and then remember just I posted this first LOL.

I just realized something this week pointed out to me on another forum much like this one where I have been an active member and my participation mainly helping mainly service area of the threads from a member also a forum friend. One like the many I have here.

Mazda has already stated 2026 price increase of roughly $1000-$2000 for the 2026 CX-5 depending on model.
They also stated this increase does not cover the new 15% tariff on Japanese made vehicles.
It is highly unlikely any importer will absorb the 15% tariff, if they want to stay in business, meaning anyone who purchases a 2026 Mazda will see a significant price increase. Standard business economics would estimate that to be $4500 minimum over this year's pricing.
Meaning if anyone is looking to buy you know what 2025 costs but only an estimate of what a 2026 will cost.
I'm glad I bought my new fridge last month; the new tariff priced model went up $950
