Infotainment Cuts out after Gas fill up?
Hey all,
I have a 2022 CX-5 Turbo. We have loved the car in general, however, over the past couple of month or so, we have had a weird situation. On two different occasions, after filling the car with gas and turning it back on, the infotainment screen is blank- doesn't show anything, music doesn't play, backup camera doesn't work, etc.
I have seen the "hold nav, back and mute buttons for 10 seconds" reboot "fix", but that didn't work. Basically, each time it happened, the screen and music worked again after the car had been shut off for some hours.
Any thoughts? This seems like a bizarre glitch, and the only times it has happened is after a gas fillup (although obviously we have filled up with gas many, many times with no issue, but it is the only common denominator I can think of).
Thanks!

No, no nav card...
Only other thing I can think of. It seems that lately, both of the USB ports in the center console thing can now connect to Apple CarPlay. It used to be, I thought, that only one of those ports could connect. Could that be something? Though that doesn't explain the gas thing...

I have a 2021 CX-5 Turbo purchased new a little over 3 years ago. I have updated the software/firmware for the entertainment system 3 times since the car was new to fix re-booting issues as well as the issue you describe. I don't believe your problem has any connection to refueling, however, I experienced similar symptoms to you several times when I shut the car off for a few minutes and then restarted.
Check the software version that you're running; scroll to Settings and you should be able to figure out the rest of the selections to display the version number,
My 2021 came with version 11022. I updated to 11038, 11040, and finally to 11048. The final version seems to have solved the issues.

In 2023 we service 478 vehicles. Of that 162 were electrical related problems. Of that 85 were directly related to a bad battery. Of that 40 were under warranty and replace FREE (from the vender plus .5 labor). Of that 27 were less then 3 years old when purchased new and installed. The remaining 45 batteries replaced were not under warranty and most were either very old and no servicing or failed because of (*see reason below) .
We even have detailed information which batteries failed in their numbers by brand name and manufacture. But to be fair I won't post that because IMHO many reasons why batteries fail is lack of basic service, and also to many added electronics and common sense regarding the nonawareness of any strange and new electrical issues and addressing them.
*Like to name a few:
slower starts
Low then normal engine speed at idle with AC on
flickering lights at night
strange auto security activation like door locks
Check engine light that appears and then shuts off for no apparent reason and not checking it or having it checked
Battery cables connection continuity
When you do the math, we are basically open 253 days a year so if we did change batteries every day based on those figures that is 2.976 batteries changed every day. LOL

Driving along, in our 2020GT, last night, when I pushed the Navigation button, on the console, the screen went black. After a minute or so, the Mazda logo, appeared, and the radio came back on, but on FM. I had been listening, to Serius (Margaritaville), when I tried to put on the NAV. For the rest of the drive, I was able to access only AM and FM. Nothing else. Any idea of what happened?
